I have probably mentioned before that I am a huge Fat Quarterly fan. A group of the coolest cats in the blogateria put together a fabulous e-zine four times a year that is jammed packed with great quilt projects.
Issue 8 is all about paper piecing.
Did you just shiver a little bit reading that? The phrase tends to send people screaming for safety, but I kind of like it. Actually, if loving paper piecing is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Tula Pink presented me with my first PP project.
"Crown Jewels" remains my favorite quilt project to date.
Now I am working on a super cool pillow called Flower Star that Aylin Öztürk created for Fat Quarterly.

Can I tell you a secret? PP is not nearly as "advanced sewers only" as you might think. Once you get used to thinking a little differently than you might be used to, it is really quite easy, and a GREAT use for odd sized scraps you might have lying around. But shhh! Don't tell the others. I sort of love it when people say "Ooooooh! That looks so complicated!"
Oh I love that crown quilt! And I love PP too. So fun.
ReplyDeleteOh that pillow is going to be AMAZING!!
