The British Are Coming! The British Are Coming!

And this time, that's a very good thing, indeed!

If you are here from Lilly's Quilts Small Blog Meet, welcome! Have a look around and feel free to put your feet on the coffee table.  We do!
Lily's Quilts

I have been making good progress on the Bloom quilt (Aneela Hoey's lovely pattern) for the Siblings Together charity.

It took me several days to get all the dresdens whipstitched on to the background fabric, but I got lots of good Netflix watching in while I did it.  I highly recommend the following documentaries:

Forks Not Knives (What you eat can kill you or cure you)
Buck (Buck Brannaman, the inspiration for the movie "Horse Whisperer)
Ballerina (fascinating story that follows 4 prima ballerinas in the Kirov ballet)
Being Elmo (The man behind the puppet)
The Sound and the Fury (The problems that arise when a child in an all deaf family announces she wants a Cochlear implant)

As you can see, it took me quite a while to stitch down those darn dresdens!  It was worth it though.  I really like how they look.  Today, I will put the borders on and then begin to think about how I will quilt it.  I already have a few ideas.

I also got some new fabric in, which is always exciting.  First off is a gorgeous bundle of Aneela's "Little Apples."
The colors in this line are so much more vibrant and saturated than they photograph.  That olive green is absolutely sumptuous.  I have spent a whole lot of time staring at this fabric as I've ironed and starched it.  I thought I knew what I was going to do with it before it arrived, but now I'm not so sure.  I feel some fussy cutting is in order here!

The other bundle that arrived is.........wait for it...............SUMMERSVILLE!!!
Oh my gosh, I have been waiting on pins and needles for Lu Summer's inaugural line for Moda to be released and finally, it has.  Let me tell you, it does not disappoint.  Color and design perfection.  This bundle is going to be hard to cut, that is for darn sure.

So, as you can see, the British have invaded my blog and my sewing room, and I couldn't be happier!

In other news, Fiona the Ogre Princess has arrived in Texas and will be loaded onto the frame tomorrow.  Cannot wait to see the magic Tia works on her!

Cheers!
Mary
